“An Olive tree should be planted even if it doesn't give fruit”

this was the answer of my father since a decade of time when we asked him to plant something else instead of the olive tree.

My father planted an olive tree 15 years ago and took care of it the whole time, but the tree had never given olives, and all the family asked him to plant another one, but he never wanted and never did. The tree gave some olives after those years, but the olives were coming only after Yazidi people were forced to escape the city through Islamic State attack. I don’t know what it means, but I hope it’s a sign of peace in the near future!
