Sacho Amed

I was for five months on the way, three months in Turkey and two months in Bulgaria. Then I was for one week on the way until I arrived in Austria. It is not easy to talk about the way coming to Europe; you see the death in front of your eyes, it’s between dying and continuing your life in Europe. Several people helped me on the way; one of them is Dachil who helped me to survive. The hardest time was when I walked for hours on the snow and I thought I will die. Kurdish and Yazidi people from Shingal helped me to pass the snow. I was as a prisoner for two days with no food and no water, Dachil asked people until he brought some food for me to live, I’m happy to be out of that situation.
My friends talked about the society and human rights in Europe and the way they respect the human rights. I decided for Austria to be my home, I want to finish my studies to build my future and help myself and Austria.
When I arrived I went to the police and applied for asylum, they welcomed me and helped me a lot then I was no more afraid.
I live in Stollnberg, in the beginning a felt I have a mountain on my shoulders and I was for the first time far away from my homeland. The residents of Stollnberg helped me to lose the depression I had, they gave me the chance to feel home.
My aim is to know the language and study to help people and be a part of Austria society, its two months I’m volunteering as a translator.
Whenever my asylum case is finished I’ll move to a big city to do my studies, but Stollnberg will be always my town, after living one year in it I feel it’s my home.
My dream is to sing and study at police academy in my home Austria and being independent.
Everybody is seeing me as a refugee and I will stay a refugee even if I get residence.
I will not be a refugee after the moment of having Austrian citizenship.
