THE KINGS
The kingdoms have disappeared, and all that is left are memories of lost homes and war-ravaged countries.
In January 2017, KUNSTASYL started a new interdisciplinary project in the context of the exhibition "daHEIM: glances into fugitive lives" at the Museum Europäischer Kulturen (MEK), Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, which serves various performing, visual and scientific genres - dance, performance, theatre, music, singing, writing, fine arts, film, fashion, philosophy, history…. KUNSTASYL and the MEK, are calling on dancers, actors, musicians, writers, performers, thinkers, filmmakers, craft people, (fashion-)designers, and all others to bring those lost kingdoms back to life. Present and past, reality and fiction intermingle.
Every one a queen, every one a king: artistic education and experience are NOT a prerequisite for participation.
Public space as well as shelters for people who had to flee are the setting. Our stage will be the joint exposition daHEIM – glances into fugitive lives by KUNSTASYL and MEK at the Museum Europäischer Kulturen in Berlin-Dahlem.
The KINGS shall be a joint project of new and native Berliners, itinerants and residents.
