I. N.

was born in Budapest/Hungary in 1937. His father worked for the Ministry of Commerce. After the latter's death in 1944 his mother moved back to her parents' home in a village near Hegyeshalom, in particular since the apartment in the city had been destroyed by bombs.

I. N. began his studies at the Technical University in Budapest in 1956. He was interested in politics, but not organised in a political party. He took part in the student demonstrations in Budapest at the end of October 1956. These demanded democratic reformsend political neutrality independent of the Soviet Union. After it became clear that military means were the response to these demands and thereby the persecution of the protesters began, I. N. decided to flee to Austria. He lived there for several months and was able to continue his studies at the Institut polytechnique in Grenoble/France in 1957.

His way finally led him via different locations in France also into the Netherlands and later to Germany. Here he started a family and he lives together with them in Berlin today.
