Dialectics and Materialism

Serdar grew up close to the city of Al-Qāmišlī at the Syrian-Turkish border in a village with only 25 houses. Sitting on the edge of his bed, he quotes Hegel, Marx, Engels, Feuerbach, and Nietzsche. Him and Mawlud, both of them are Syrians, offer insight into what life was like, before their existence was destructed by the civil war.

Freight trains thunder past the window of their room. Day in and out and all through the night. It seems as if they have to unswervingly dispose the remnants of life burst apart due to war.

Finally, the sun breaks through the clouds.

We're working outside.

Milad and Hisam are moving.
