Picnic in the yard

daHEIM. The colourful garden shines. The first guests appear on time for the picnic. They fill the buffet with the food and drinks they brought along. Everything looks beautiful, carefully chosen and prepared. „May we go „in too?“, asks a visitor.

„in“ means to enter one of those often descibed no-places, examples for an urban and humanitarian problem zone. So we climb the stairs – doors are open, reveal a glance on „table, chair, bed cupboard and the rubbish bin with lid“. Sulejman curves with his tricycle along the corridor- along those „50 meters to teethclean“ as Latif describes the stretch to the washbasin. Omar and Thagrid, Mazin, Hjiba and the family Soboh are cooking. Their faces are happier than the ones of the visitors. Who enters a „home“ for the first time, suffers a shock.

Inaam ist seit zwei Wochen in Berlin. Die Schwester von Dakel und weitere Familienmitgieder waren in den ersten Tagen ihres Aufenthaltes von Obdachlosigkeit bedroht. Die Berliner Heime sind voll, Hotels und Hostels lehnten eine Aufnahme auf Grund der Zahlungsverzögerungen durch das LaGeSo ab.
